Jefferson County Highway Shop

The Jefferson County Highway Department selected Maas Brothers as the construction manager for the county’s highly anticipated new highway shop facility, at 141 W. Woolcock St. in Jefferson. The highway shop was the topic of years of research and discussion by the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors, and in 2014 the County was ready to move forward. The project included development of 11 acres on a 40-acre county site. The primary building is a state-of-the-art 85,000 sq. ft. facility with clean, modern lines and multi-functional capacity. For county vehicles, there is a storage garage, service repair garage, welding bays and parts storage. The building also houses equipment storage, modern locker room facilities, training space and shop administrative offices. In addition, the project includes a separate 30,000 sq. ft. storage building on the site, as well as a brine mix building for winter road maintenance and a vehicle fueling island for Highway Department vehicles.

Throughout the project, Maas Brothers managed preconstruction services, including constructability analysis, value engineering and development of bid packages. During construction, we managed the day-to-day construction operations through project completion. Post-construction, we managed the warranty program, owners training and project closeout. Maas Brothers self-performed concrete foundations and carpentry work.

The new Jefferson County Highway Shop has been well-received by county employees and has had a positive impact on Highway Department operations. Maas Brothers is proud to have been chosen as the construction manager for this high-profile construction project.
