Twice is Nice Resale Shop, at 907 West Racine Street in Jefferson, was a special project for Maas Brothers Construction. We built the shop’s original building in 2000, and when it became apparent that their operation’s success had outgrown that footprint, they called us to plan an expansion. At just under 10,000 sq. ft., the addition nearly doubled the size of the original building. Twice is Nice gained about 5,000 square feet of retail space and 4,750 square feet of much-needed storage. We were pleased to be chosen as general contractor once again by this successful resale business.
We welcomed the challenge this project presented: to tie the addition into their existing, active retail space. Twice is Nice remained open throughout the project, so we worked closely with their management to minimize impact on patron traffic and deliveries due to construction. In addition to serving as general contractor, Maas Brothers Construction self-performed the concrete foundations and flatwork for this project, as well as the installation of doors and hardware. Twice is Nice now has nearly twice the space, helping the store carry out its mission of providing gently used clothing, furniture and household supplies at low prices while supporting several area ministries.
